Rather reserved, but nice to exhibitors. Gentle with dogs. Knows what he's doing, likes a good mover with a nice outline. Willing to put up OH for placements (including Group 1) in regular group over top-ranked #1 dogs and big-name handlers. Doesn't care who's on the lead.

Good for nervous puppies. Wants them to be as comfortable as possible.

First time showing to him and he gave my Bitch Group 1 over Professional Handlers. He told me he really liked her movement.
Apr 28, 20181SportingSporting
Never thought much of this guy, but after today, I also wouldn’t show to him. He gave a major to a bitch with her tail tucked and missing several teeth. Our breed is supposed to be a confident hunting breed, have full dentition and never carry its tail below the croup. There were at several other nice major-pointed class bitches there. He is why there is little respect for judges anymore. A letter will be sent to AKC - just too bad they won’t do anything

TOOTH FAIRY - Either does not know or care that some breeds allow for a level bite. Ran a fast ring and commented to exhibitors about their dog's teeth. He didn't seem to care about much else.

Have to agree with some statements from below... Rather fast ring procedure (but with clear directions). Rather not for very green dogs too... Not for all owner-handlers either. expect You to react and do it quickly. Not big on stacking, will give You little time. Rather checking dog on the table with his hands not so much with his eyes. However I would say at todays show he put up what he wanted and not because who was showing, or nearly so...Pretty much average, but rather fair judge.

Judge Frederiksen judged our National Specialty. I did win RWB that was a major. The bitch I was showing was a littermate to the dog that he chose for the breed win. I am totally a novice. My friend that owns both of them is also a breeder, owner, and handler. She would also say she is far from a pro. I think she does a great job, and looks as good as the pros. I totally think he judged on the dogs and them being showed well. He did tell me it was really close. My close friend won WB, and she has been showing for quite a long time. I totally believe it came down to handeling. Of course, I am overjoyed at the award, I know I still have a lot to learn about the handeling end. I don't believe he is totally looking at the go to faces.. So I am a fan of his..
Jul 10, 20161OH
Unacceptable fast procedures. No time to set up or stack. Came at my dog yanked open his mouth and spooked him. Thus is a dog with 6 points, he would not walk back to the judge after the down and back for fear he would be hurt. This dog is very confident in the ring. Choices were all PH with very poor specimens. DNS

I have shown under this judge before and some time I don't win and some this I do , I think he is fair , and judges what is in the ring at that time , He placed my girl WB today and she needs just a few more points to finish .

Mr. Frederiksen was gentle on the dogs and had good ring procedure. He was very consistent. He didn't judge the dogs. You could not follow what he wanted, because the other end of the lead was his deciding factor. I will never show to him again as an owner handler. He is a total face judge. If I hire a handler, sure, I'll play the game, but I will NEVER show to him again as a breeder/owner/handler. He pointed something out to me, when handing me my ribbon that he felt was a problem, then with the next class, put up a handler with a dog that very same issue. I have to watch my penny's and can't afford judges who put up faces. Makes me sad, but that's the facts.

Very fast ring and likes familiar faces/ well-known dogs
Feb 6, 20152HerdingMomHerding
He ran a fast ring. After down and back, didn't get to gait dogs around ring. Just wanted us to start line at the down and back corner with several dogs still doing those. Then just picked dogs from that with no other go arounds. Don't feel like he really looked at the entries, just went with dogs he already knew. The owner handler of a GrCH behind me also remarked that she had never had a ring done like this and was glad she wasn't the first one in line.
Aug 17, 20145Darlene BrabantToy Poodles
Mr. Frederickson , is very pleasant, but I don't think he knows what the standard is for toy poodles , every day he changes his mind. I will not show under him again
Jul 27, 20144AnonPapillion
Awarded our girl RWB even thought he never watched her in the ring. He made his mind up as soon as we walked in the ring. Just goes to show you never give up.
Jul 25, 20141AnonNon sporting
Sat ringside and watched him judge, he has no ryme or reason to his judging except that he is looking for familiar faces and even awarded WD to a dog that attacked another male unprovoked while stacked and wouldn't let got, this attack was totally unprovoked and right in front of Mr Frederiksen, who claimed he didn't see it start. Also showed to him and he has no clue as to the standards the only consistency in his placing is familiar faces when given a big very nice BBE class he managed to pick the worst dogs. On my DNS list don't waste your money unless your a face or have a handler on the dog
Jul 20, 20141confettichihuahua
Very disappointed in his hashing today at Reliant. So flagrantly handled oriented that he had people turning in their arm bands rather than show their other dogs to him. Dumped some stunning dogs in favor of flagrantly lesser specimens.
Jun 7, 20141anonymousToy
Dumped many highly ranked toys today in breed wins. Was all over the place. Toy poodle, Pom and Peke left many breeders scratching their heads today. DNS.

Will always show to this man. I have won and lost under him. Judges fast...knows what he likes when they walk into the ring. Wants dogs to move out and not toddle around the ring. Very consistent in his judging this past weekend.
Apr 18, 2014Robin GatesBoston terriers
Wonderful judge who takes his job very seriously. He will put up a well balanced class dog over specials. He does not seem to prefer brindle over black but does not seem to care for cropped ears.
Apr 12, 20145houndawgNon-Sporting & Toys
A real pleasure to show to. He is friendly, extremely gentle with the dogs, especially new dogs and exhibitors. He likes movement, and expression. I really appreciated what he said about my open dog after he moved. It showed his knowledge of movement and bothered to help the exhibitor see what he saw. He was also very complimentary of another dog I showed. This is a real winner in my book - win or lose.
Apr 4, 20141AnonymousAll Breed
Agree with many of the other comments. Extremely political and will not show to again.
Nov 11, 20132Karen DeweyBloodhoundsExpert!
Judged our supported entry. 14 CHs in the ring plus the WD and WB. Did not separate, left everyone in the ring, very crowded conditions. Attentive to the "big" dogs in the ring but was dismissive to other specials. Gave special attention to handler dogs. Will not show to this judge again.
Jul 13, 20131Chinese Shar-Pei
Very heavy handed.....scared many dogs in the ring where the handler/owner requested to leave the ring. Don't waste your money.
Apr 15, 20132workinganonymous
After announcing at ringside that he would not bring other exhibitors in after he started judging (several had picked up but were not there when judging started) - he did. He looked up and saw a well known handler with couple of dogs in tow- proceded to let her in with her dogs & judged her dogs. Of couse this handler won every thing from open to BoB. Sour grapes -Maybe. But when you loudly make a statement & then see who is outside the ring & you let them in your ring??? I will tell my puppy people to NOT show to this judge and anyone else that will listen- that this judge is Very political and save your money!
Nov 25, 20122RocklandChows & Toys
Good ring procedures and plesant attitude in the ring, observed some toy breeds & he seemed to all the different breeds and exhibitors. Pulled from bred-by frequently.
Nov 11, 20122BrownNon Sporting TT
Loves to use class dogs over specials. Very fast, almost as if he is bored with the proceedings. Typically uses handlers, last time I showed to him had back issues. I like his partner James Noe better.
Sep 6, 20124Pamela PrestonBoston TerriersExpert!
Mr. Frederkisen is a joy to show to. He knows what he likes and will give you every opportunity to present your dog in the best possible manner. This includes suggesting alternate ways of presenting the dog and giving you multiple attempts to do so. He is VERY fast though (as I said... he knows what he likes and what he's looking for) so he's efficient, but still thorough. He goes over every dog and watches every dog as it moves. In my breed, he appeared to look at over all outline, movement, and substance. He also wants to see a correct down & back - not just a nice side gait. Although my breed is a head breed, he seems to forgive a little on the headpiece if the movement and front is very nice. Also, he does not automatically always give the crossover if there is one; however, he will if he feels the dog is worthy. He gave the impression that he enjoyed judging and being in the ring and he put exhibitors and their dogs at ease. Lastly, he is quite pleasant and friendly and awards the dogs as he likes, NOT the other end of the lead. I will definitely show to him again.
May 10, 20125Carol DryMinpinsExpert!
Mr Frederickson was extremely professional and wonderful with the dogs on the table. Very efficient table exam but done quickly as minpins are definitely not known for being good table dogs. Seemed to want hackney gait and lots of attitude. I would show to him again anytime anyday. Wonderful judge. Used Owner handlers even at group level
Jan 24, 2012anonymouspomeranians
Have been told he likes cute heads poms, but he recently expressed he didn't like them too overdone or chowy. So, cute but not overdone.
Sep 18, 20112anoherding
Clearly political. Likes handlers and breeders.
Jul 11, 2011ChristaSheltie
I showed my Sheltie under him in the puppy class and he didn't even let me set her on the table before he was putting his hands on her. This was our first show after only being in matches and she was intimidated by him coming up on her while setting her on table. He told me how I should set her on the table. I won't show under him again. Chose a handler.
Jan 17, 20111anonymousterriers
Political hack. Doesn't really know terriers, puts up the human faces he recognizes.
Nov 28, 20102RocklandChows
Good overall ring procedures. Not consistant with what he put up, and I went WD, WB & RWB. Rushed through the breed, nice ring procedures, pushy with class dogs, did not approch any of the exhibits from the front, spooked one and another backed away, but was tolerant with them, I would not waste my time in the Group ring with him. I would show again, but not with a special.
Nov 9, 2010karmaPapillons
I really liked this judge. My bitch dropped her tail,so I did not win, but I loved his picks.
Oct 27, 20101anonymousherding
Pay a Handler to walk into his ring.
Aug 11, 20101ANONWorking
Participated in the most political show that I have ever experienced last Spring. Mr. F knows dogs, but that day he put up the worst dogs in every breed. Way too unethical for my taste. Now on my DNS list.
Jun 29, 20102annony mousevariousExpert!
Mr. F. CAN judge dogs....doesn't very often, but certainly can. He has his favorite people and will put them up. He CAN be pleasant in the ring, but find this is directly related to before or after lunch...and how much entertainment was had the night before.
Jun 23, 20103anonworking
ignored my special in groups, then saw him the next day off the show grounds & wanted to know when he was going to hit the ring........Group placements predicable
Jun 13, 20102WilliamSighthound
Unnecessarily fast in judging. Does not give exhibitors time to adequately set the dog and then criticizes the dog for not be set correctly. He gave my dog BOB, then told me it was a gift because the dog was not that good. Gave BOS to a deserving dog over one exhibited by a handler.
May 19, 2010WorkingGreat Dane
I am a B/O/H and from the bred by class with a young puppy won under this judge. HE was very polite and asked to have the dog moved a bit faster to his liking and took the time to make my puppy work so he could see her completly. BOS over specials. Thank you.

Loves beautiful heads and expression. Seems to prefer a smaller, dainty Pap but will put up larger ones with merit. Also wants them to move well.
Jan 13, 20092AnonymousWorking
Political. Rushes judging and isn't very pleasant. He will go for a top dog or a pro handler in a minute. If his buddy James Noe is also judging they will put up the same dogs.
Dec 25, 20081anonherding
Does not appear to enjoy judging. Plays games in the ring. Not the judge he was back 10+ years ago.
Nov 15, 2008M. KramerDoberman
He judges quickly and barely goes over the dogs. He's efficient with his judging pattern. We all knew who was going to win the breed before it happened and it went down as everyone had heard it would.
Nov 9, 20084lndisiBoston Terriers
Did not find this judge to be unpleasant. Yes, he put up my dog - so that makes me see him postively, but some exhibitors were not happy with his remarks. His remarks to me were accurate so I couldn't object. He appears to like good movement in our breed and I approve of that
Oct 29, 20085anonymousHerding
Found him to be pleasant and good-natured, even in the pouring rain. Likes a correct dog. Doesn't appear to be impressed by faces.
Sep 29, 20085CelebrateDachshunds
Seemed to look at the dogs not the faces...did a good job in dachsies.
Jul 22, 20085Rottweiler
Very Good Judge, Judges dogs not Handlers, Likes Heads and movement, Will make comments on dogs to handlers,Tells it and places dogs as he see them to the standard.
Jul 6, 20083Woodwynd DalmatiansDalmatian & Juniors
One of the best Junior Showmanship judges we've had. EVERY kid got a good look and felt like they might win. Consistent and even handed when judging the breed. Won't forgive bad behavior so go with well trained dogs. Went middle of the road with size and spotting. Won't use a big dog unless he has to. He can be up or down. If he's in a good mood, he's very enjoyable to show to. If not, what a pill!
Feb 15, 20082DreamWeaver PomeraniansPomeranians
Have only showed to him once, but never again. Very rude, barely went over dogs he didn't care for. Didn't seem to enjoy judging at all

This judge is a waste of time and money. He's rude and unpleasant and pretty much clueless about the breed. I will never show to him again.

I find this judge to be knowledgeable about the movement in my breed. Have heard him comment he does not like high tail carriage
Jul 24, 20071anonymousworkingExpert!
Arrogant, grouchy, and often rude to exhibitors. Very little patience with inexperienced exhibitors or entrants. Does not appear to be enjoying judging at all and demonstrates little breed knowledge in the Working breeds.
Jul 23, 20072all
Mr Fredericksen seems to be more concerned with being condesending to the exhibitors rather than judging dogs. I do not agree with the way he interprets what he sees and that is ok. That's what makes the world go around. What I find reprehensible is his comments to the exhibitors and no matter what their response, he takes offense and 'punishes' them. Very detrimental to new exhibitors.

Good with puppies, will put up natural ears
Jan 24, 20074AnonymousCollies
Do yourself a favor and bring him a trained dog. He'll put up with a *little* squirrely behavior from puppies, but not from your Open entry.
Jan 18, 20074PendragonShiba Inu
This is one of my favorite Shiba Inu judges. He is pleasant to show too, likes puppies and knows the breed standard very well. He seems to look at everything from teeth/bites, movement, coat and markings. He doesn't seem to be political and judges the dogs, not the handler.
