Very heavy handed and dismissive to those she does only know. Why do Clubs continue to hire her?

Judge Jacqueline Stacy found my boy in a large entry. I have only shown to her one other time several years ago. My male took BOSV at 11 months over classes filled with standards. My boy moves well. She appeared to watch for movement and ran her ring with precession. Know her ring procedures-watch her with other entries before you enter the ring with your dog
Apr 9, 20222NongPWC
Watched her put up the worst moving dogs. She gave it all to one handler.

We have shown under this judge in classes and group. Dismissive, borderline rude. Not that we mind a judge that is brief and decisive. This is not that. This is more of an "I don't want to be here " attitude. Does not seem to understand breed standards for this group. Not just one breed but many. Like a bird pecking at shiny objects, no rhyme or reason to her choices. Will put up a great dog, then right behind it (in group) a very inferior dog when there are better choices. If you like betting spend your money in Vegas instead, because as they say "it's a craps shoot".

terrible in her choices picks handlers she knows... doesn't care about the standard
Mar 14, 20211Tatiana terriers, schnauzers
Heard my share of horror stories and had no intentions to enter under her, but... There was a judge change, so I decided to give it a shot. Wrong idea. Half of people I know with top ranked dogs pulled their entries out, when they knew she will be judging. Long story short - I brought a puppy, for good first experience. She was probably Thee most heavy handed judge I even had in the ring. Table exam was as short of disaster. I put my dog in the middle of table, considering her limited experience. Judged approached, lifted my dog by from legs and drugged her to the very edge of the table before I had chance to say or to do something. I would never ever bring her another puppy and more likely nothing at all. My puppy did OK during table procedure, but after I put her down on a floor almost ran out of the ring just to get away from that lady.

Will reward her judge friends first, then the handlers - o/h don't have much of a chance with her.
Apr 3, 20201anonworking - owner handler
first breed up for the day, single entry breed, 22 seconds in the ring - very dismissive and obviously uninterested in "no name" teams. Cursory exam, lack luster judging.
May 17, 20191Breeder Owner Handler Great Dane
Really good at finding her friends in the ring. Even heard the winning handler stand outside the ring and brag about how well she knows the judge and how long they have been friends before we entered the ring. Kind of obvious when the same handler only shows up for 1 day out of a 3 day cluster. Will never get another entry from me!!

I showed my boy Victor under Mrs. Jacqueline L. Stacy on May 19, 2017 in the Bred By Exhibitor class when he was just 10 months old. She handled him with gentleness and talked to him when examining him. He not only won his class but also was given Best of Breed that day as well. She said he was a correct representation of the breed. She loved his show temperament in the ring and everything else about him. I would definitely show under her again.

Eleven years later and who knows how much contact from the Parent Club's Judges Education Committee and she STILL doesn't understand the difference between black, liver and a tri color. Creates issues that don't exist and has no understanding of how basic color genetics are expressed. Should NOT be judging this breed. If you have a dark liver spotted Dal, definitely do not show to her. Frankly, don't show any Dal to her... does not understand the breed.

Always have to be leery. 2011 Gazette - Notice The AKC Board has reprimanded AKC Judge Ms. Jacqueline L. Stacy (Chapel Hill, NC) and imposed a $100 fine for actions reflecting a lack of judgment and common sense. This fine revolved around her putting up her own breeding for BIS.
Dec 17, 20175Deb Vizsla
Interesting ring manner, sometimes hard to understand what she wants, at end of final go around for WB she asked that dogs be left to stand naturally. Most of her picks for both class dogs and BOB were NOT pro handlers, All of her picks were excellent deserving dogs
May 8, 20172anonymousHavanese
I will never put an entry in for this judge! She is horrible and is very bias with professional handlers. She withheld the reserve ribbon from the winner's bitch class because she said that the dogs were terrible and messy. She did not like hair in front of the eyes of the dogs. It appears that she did not read the Havanese standard! She was having a conversation with handlers while judging and would watch the group ring while judging the Havanese. Horrible judge!!!!!

I watched Mrs. Stacy at the Howard County Show. As I was their to video for a friend that was in the ring with her bloodhound.MY friend as well as myself did not expect any thing from this judge. She was their to work on some skill wither Special. Her dog has done very well. Has done well at the Nationals and so on. I have a problem with a judge who can not have the Common Courtesy to watch a dog on the down and back. She keep on looking at the other ring. Blatantly rude. When the handler with the bitch that won Breed at Westminster was in the ring for her down and back. She could not keep her eyes off. Mrs. Stacy is not overly Warm and Fuzzy nor friendly. She is just there. And that is fine. But RESPECT ALL THE EXHIBTORS IN THE RING> RIDICLOUS> This is happening why to much in the ring. These judges are not that smart on Breed Standards. If you are not a handler she will not put you up. If you are using her. For a dog that is trying to get their feet wet. That's OK If it is a close show.

She was nice enough and good with puppies ,but her husband judge the day before and she pick the same dogs all the way as he did the day before not one dog was different , either she doesn't have a mind of her own or she doesn't know the standard

Mrs. Stacey was very pleasant, handled the puppies with ease and I think was looking for movement and expression. We won BOV over some top professionals.

If you are a Pro handler, you can bring her anything. If you are not, don't waste your money. Rude, no idea about standard, didn't watch movement. DNS judge.
May 27, 20143Toy FancierItalian GreyhoundsExpert!
Preface, that I had this judge on my DNS list for a long time, but because points are getting scarce I cannot be so picky anymore. I cannot say what she was looking for as the entry was so small, with several types, so it was not enough of an example to determine what she wanted. She was efficient, and gave fair examination, but watching from outside the ring, I could tell if she was not going to put a dog up, because she would look at another ring as soon as she told them to go around and then look back at the dog at the first corner. Dogs she liked...she watched all the way...intently. I did not see her award handlers more than OH, it was a fair mix. I would probably enter to her again if it was a local show.

The show: Intermountain Kennel Club, South Jordan, UT - Saturday May 3, 2014 The entry: 2-9-3-3 Our experience: I've read mixed reviews of Mrs. Stacy on more than one review board, and wanted to share our experience showing to her in Utah last weekend. I was pleased to see that she took her time and gave consideration to every dog in the ring. Her Best of Breed winner was an owner handled class bitch (Open, Under 15 pounds), her Best Opposite a professionally handled, nationally ranked male. After she made her cut, she worked both dogs and their respective handlers VERY hard to make her final determination. In my amateur opinion it wasn’t “for show” – she didn’t seem to make her final decision until she moved them the last time. Both the BOB and the BOS have sensational heads, alert/aware expressions, solid top lines and a nice side gait. After the judging was complete, my boyfriend and our girl's hanlder asked for feedback and Mrs. Stacy offered the following about her approach to judging. She said she takes her job very seriously, and makes two comparisons as she’s going over the dogs. First she compares each entry to the breed standard. Second, she compares her top choices to the other entries in the ring. She also commented that Saturday’s entry was one of the best she’s seen in a long time. Full disclosure: Mrs. Stacy awarded our girl her first major last summer. We finished out of the ribbons on Saturday. I’d have no hesitation about showing to her again.

9/2021-Insisted all in ring (even outdoors) wear a mask. Was patient with young puppies. In the end still dismissed all colors except red standards for Breed. 12/2019--Comment stands. One show she judged based on movement, the next it was faces all the way. Gave some people direction to go one way (which was shorter) for a down and back and others were given the longer path. This happened in the same class. So no 2 dogs were given the same directions to truly compare or accentuate their features. 5/2014--Not always consistent
Feb 19, 20141anonTerrierExpert!
Watched her judge the Terrier Group. She asked all dogs to do their final go around and then free stack. Several dogs in the group were owner handled to Top Ten Rankings. I observed her not waiting for the owner handlers to free stack their dogs. When they were free stacking their dog, she was watching the handlers. Put up one terrier in the group that wilted when it came back to judge. Handler had to hand stack the dog at the end of down and back. None of the ranked owner handler dogs placed while handlers' dogs did place even though they were not in equal condition or equal quality.

Absolutely no rhyme or reason to her ring. Her choices are completely inconsistent from class to class, breed to breed. She is also inconsistent in her behavior with exhibitors, from kindness to tear-evoking tongue lashings. I simply can not recommend any exhibitor showing to her, as you just do not know which behavior you will encounter.
May 20, 20135houndawgTibetan Spaniel
This judge was so kind to a young teenager showing for her first time that it was unbelievable. Even thought the teen was crying she helped calm the exhibitor and encouraged her to show. She even took a good look at the dog being shown. I don't care what she does judging-wise this kindness is not often seen and her actions will go along way to encourage this person. This judge deserve applause.

My handler showed my young Frenchie girl to this judge. As the judge was handing her the reserve ribbon and the winners ribbon to the Bred By exhibitor, she held the ribbons close to her not giving them till she was through berrating each of them for their too short tails saying that they were ruining the breed and ought to be ashamed of themselves. I didn't even breed my dog, she came from Denmark. I am not sure why my handler had to listen to this scolding. Is this part of the judge's job?

Found her to be very friendly in the ring. Definitely knows the standard and ran ring very efficiently. Seemed to evaluate each dog evenly. Will definitely show to again

Knows the breed and judges it well' however, I will not enter under her because of her ethics in judging dogs she has bred...
Oct 22, 20112AnonymousPomeranians
Seems to prefer a taller pom, foxier head type, fairly good moving, with harsh coat texture being a must. Don't bother with a puppy in puppy coat. Does not judge the dog on the day as far as coat but will play guessing games about whether the dog will develop a coat problem later, nevermind that her psychic predictions are often off the mark and cause her to put up inferior dogs. But I won't show to her anymore as I will not give an entry to someone who sees nothing wrong with giving a BIS to a dog she bred herself. (WTF?) And I don't agree with her taste in my breed whatsoever, but to each their own.

"Corrupt" doesn't even begin to describe her.... Behavior regarding her Tamarin Affenpinscher ought to be enough to earn her a lifetime ban from the sport. DISGUSTING.
May 20, 20114Tonie StephensChihuahua
This judge is a great judge. She won't put up with phoney color on her dogs from anyone including the top hadlers in the country. I think she judges based on what she likes and knows a good dog.

This judge was kind and considerate throughout a brutally hot judging assignment, took over breeds for a judge affected by heat and judged the evening match. She was very kind to juniors in her ring and offered to speak to any who had questions.

Lifetime DNS list. Terribly arrogant, rude, and lacking in knowledge or the desire to learn. It's all about her.
Apr 29, 20101L.Sheltie
Just want to reiterate and confirm the Sept. 5 08 rater. I was on the sidelines for that show, I've never even showed under her and I will never ever show under her after what I saw that day. I was one of many people who signed a complaint/petition against her with AKC and I have heard of her doing the same thing many time to other exhibitors since then(inappropriate arrogant behavior, bullying handlers, handling dogs during measurement). She should be banned from judging at all. Just awful, and the AKC rep. basically ignored it, and AKC blew off the complaint even though numerous people had signed it. Just take my advice and avoid this woman like the plague. Again, I've never been under her, so no "sour grapes" here, just telling it as it was.
Apr 2, 2010Amy PoppOES
I felt that she was thorough in her examination. Took time but, likes a clean, nicely groomed specimen. She did take time to look up a dog that was shown clipped and respected what standard said.
May 23, 20095AnonymousBelgian Tervuren
Excellent. Doesn't put up with BS politics and isn't afraid to let it be known. Very professional and takes time investigating all aspects of the dog as it applies to the breed standard. Would show to her any day of the week.

On my DNS list, you need to be one of her people. She thinks a lot of herself and does not know or care about the breed standards.

What she is looking for seems to change from day to day. I would say she isnt very confident in her choices in my breed. All over the place, couldnt tell you what she really wants in order to win
Sep 5, 2008AnonymousSheltie
She is on my lifetime DNS list!
She had inappropriate measuring procedures for dogs(she does not know what the natural stance for a sheltie is). She had hands on the dogs legs and body putting them in unnatural positions, which MO'd 3 dogs in one day in the breed. She intimidated handlers and stressed dogs. She delayed judging by being on her cell phone. When the Rep was called to witness her use of the wicket she refused to let the Rep attend.

Mrs. Stacy was kind, very patient and very good with puppies. She was consistent and put up some very nice dogs. She measured one entrant and clearly explained her reasoning and protocols. She was fair to all exhibitors.

This judge told me how nice my dog's head and front were and what a nice coat, but didn't put him up because he didn't "sparkle". Excuse me but the standard says "aloof".

I noticed her several times while dogs where doing there down and back that she wasn't watching the dog move, she was paying attention to what was going on in other rings... doesn't seem to know type

Have won under her, with completely different types of dogs, and lost under her with the same types. Doesn't seem very consistent with what she does. In one show, she wants leg and side gait, in the next it is all about coat. Then there are the shows where it is who in on the lead. Definately a "crap shoot" if you enter.

Very into self not her assignments. Can be quite rough on mouths and overly firm in overall exam. There are certain breeds I choose not to subject to her harshness any longer. I find her often moody and unpleasant to show to.

She put up a dog that she bred for BOB at Westminster. Can be very rude and ignore you if she does not recognize you
Jun 27, 20071Woodwynd DalmatiansDalmatians
DQ'd a dark liver Dal for being a tri color. Same dog went on to be WD/BOW at our national specialty under a respected breeder/judge. Doesn't know what she's doing nor does she really care. Repeated tri color DQ on another liver dal, who is also NOT a tri color. Resistant to any education on breed standard or type.

Very Pleasant--- seems to prefer the smaller dog with decent movement. Seems to appreciate a well trained dog and a good handler ( watched herding group).

Used to be good for our breed -- now? It's more of an 'einy-meinie-minie-mo'...or who's your handler experience. I would not travel far at all to show to her anymore

She is a good judge. Fair in her evaluation taking time with each dog. She has very good hands with puppies. I would take a puppy to her anytime. It is so nice to have a judge who actually will look at the dog and not the handler.
