I’m extremely reluctant to say this, but I experienced it first-hand... TWICE. Let’s just say that IMO, if all the female handlers wore burkas, I have no doubt Mr. Ham would truly put up the “best” dog! He’s friendly and thorough, & appears to definitely know and understand our Breed Standard. C’mon, Mr. Ham, tighten up!

Mr Ham was thorough and was able to look at a large Non-Sporting Group and find the dogs he wanted. Very pleasant to show to and happy that a OH has a chance in a very tough group full of top handlers & dogs.

I have to agree that he seems "off" lately. The first time I showed to him in 2006, he loved my bitch and asked afterwards if she had done anything (and she had done quite a lot of winning). He seemed pleased he had found her. Her son, almost identical to her - just a male version, was also a dog he liked. Same thing - asked after judging if he had done anything and he had had a BIS at age 2. I thought he liked the type I breed. 3 months later I show to him and he picks a totally different type dog (but with a "pretty face" as noted by others). Gives it a group win. This past weekend he gave a group win to a class dog at a large show in a 5 day cluster. I wonder if he has any clue what a standard is. He certainly hasn't looked at my breed's standard lately. I am thinking if it has a pretty face maybe that's it. It isn't who's on the end of the lead either in the case of the class dog winning the group. It was an owner handler and plenty of handlers in the ring.

I enjoyed showing to judge Ham. He was very complimentary about the quality of our Eskies, mentioning he didn't see this kind of quality at home. Allowed me to use the entire ring to show my dogs, unlike the previous days judge. Gave me time to set up on the table. He was also not afraid to select an owner/handled dog for BOB (ok it was mine) over a pro. Felt he was picking the best dog and not the handler.

I had a similar expereince as HRH with Mr. Ham at the Group level. No big names and at a loss as who to place. Questioned his choices.

Completely lost at the Group level. Seemed inconsistent and flustered. Perhaps because there were no big names at this show to point to.

Shown to him B4, appears to like large side gait. But today, he was as lost as I have ever seen him. I guess we all have bad days, OR was it Jimmies day to play games? Extremely disappointed, based upon past judging of our breed & others. As some said "well that's Jimmy for you!"

Very nice to show to, but doesn't seem to be able to see in the dogs what the standard describes. Seems very able to see up the other end of the lead, though. *sigh*

Pleasant to show to BUT judges solely on a pretty face (not correct but pretty) over looks the rest of the body totally, pigeon toed (bowlegged) behind, tall narrow chested you name it he over looked it. doesn't know the bulldog standard!!

Puts up fellow OB judges and friends every time if given the chance no matter what dog they bring to him.

Know a good Boston and can find one. Looks a he correct end of the lead. A good example of what all judges should strive for

Likes a good head piece. Does not look at the end of the lead. Will put class dog up for breed if he feels they are worthy.

One of the best obedience judges. Tries hard but does not seem to have an eye for the standards.
