Expressed no interest in my single entry in the Breed ring. His judging in the Group ring is reinforcement of our decision that showing dogs is a waste of our time and money.

Once again could not see past the bald head of a handler to see a horrible topline for a group placement!
Jul 29, 20191BOHHerding
After having negative private notes from many previous years, I thought he may have gotten better and actually looked at and judged the dogs. But he seems to be just putting in his time. I no longer will give him an entry. It's a waste of money and time.

After reading all the comments I was ready for the worst... But this was one of our semi-local shows so I entered anyway. I never had this judge before, nor was observing him in the ring. Today he was pleasent. We had rather big entry in our breed and I was curiouse of how he will handle it. We also had a puppy who was second time in the ring and very green. Regardless of all I read, he was nice and patient with puppy, I would show him a young dog. I didn't find him to be handler oriented either. I belive more then anything he wanted to see good side movement and several times mentioned - present Your dog on a loose leash. Really took his time and ran dogs around more then once, if he needed to be sure in his choices. Even I'm not agree with everything what he put up, but majority of his choices were good. PHs and OHs were represented equally. He is not exactly your best terrier judge, but will do the job. I would give him another entry.

This judge does not enjoy judging. He acts like he does not want to be there. Had a judge change in NJ.. Did not find out till I went to ringside. I would of never stayed a extra day for this judge. He will always go with a Handler if that is a possibility. He barely looked at the dog as well as the examine was little to none.

He judged Owner Handler BIS. I stacked my Vizsla in the BIS ring & he tells me, "You don't need that bait!" He's a large man & he consumes an almost complete sphere over my young bitch. No bait for reinforcement, she hunkers down, & this pompous judge tells me to "hold her up by her belly". WHAT A JERK!! Never show to this @ss again!

Horrible judge. Consistently picks the worst dogs. WOre dirty clothes and had terrible BO. DNS
Sep 4, 20161Eastmanworking
He might know German Shepherds but he does not know the standards for the working breeds. He is on my DNS list and I see he is on a lot of people's DNS list. Why AKC keeps these judges is beyond me.

Unless your dog is on a Professional Handler don't waste your money. Picked 2 worst dogs in the ring and only 2 on pro handlers

Changed heeling pattern mid-stream in Cheyenne in Novice. One Novice A dog only did half the Fig 8 - others did 2 passes. The Novice B group exercises were horrible. Changed position of dogs - woman picked up and carried her small dog from one of the end positions to swap out with fidgety Rottie in middle. Woman fell and dropped dog. Dogs scattered everywhere. Did not give "Sit your dog" command - only gave "Leave your dog" command. Other Rottie was actually the problem, very slow to react when this Rottie poked BMD next to him (BMD broke after physical contact made). Then restarted the ENTIRE GROUP long sit (instead of letting the majority of dogs who stayed, finish and just giving BMD another chance after). Seemed very confused.

With a small but quality entry, he really couldn't go wrong. Not sure what he was looking for. In the NOHS group, he did find the best dogs but, again, I'm not sure what he was looking for.
Aug 29, 20153Meghann Lord-FennBorzoi
Small entry, of all class animals. In my opinion, he did find all of the best moving dogs - even if they were young, and out of coat.
Aug 29, 2015Anonymousshelties
Very much into side movement, given his breed is GSD. I'm a very small owner/breeder/handler who is into quality not quantity, so he hasnt seen much of me over the years. Plus, I an not the "pretty young thing" people are talking about. Yet I usually do very well under him because I know he wants great side movement. So I've won under him many times over the years with various dogs even though there were very well known handlers in the ring. He is not political. Take him a dog with exceptional side movement and he'll find you for sure.
Feb 28, 20151AnonAll Breed
Horribly political and just awful. There are no other words.
Dec 13, 20141AnonymousGerman Shepherd Dogs
Does not understand the German Shepherd Dog Standard.
Nov 25, 20131houndawgnon-sporting tibbies
Put up a WD that did not have proper coat or head structure, an important thing in this breed, and did not move well over a lovely dog that had placed WD the day before. The other dog was clearly in his best element and should have won. Had I seen his WD choice outside the ring I would have asked what breed was it!!!! This man is a judge simply going thru the motions and collecting his fees.
Nov 24, 20131AnonHounds
Showed to him a couple of times. All his examination consisted of three slight touches in shoulders, loins and thigh areas. He requested to take scent hounds around "on a lose lead" in the ring covered with liver and chicken pieces! At the end of judging he asked me what I have, dog or bitch, so he could hand me an appropriate ribbon. And I agree with the previous comment that being a girl helps a lot with thus judge! I am not sure that I ever want to show to him again.
Aug 3, 20131anonHerding
Never again, Does not judge the dogs. Barely touches them only puts up the girls. Want to win wear something low cut
Aug 14, 20122anonExpert!
No consistency, other than poor movement being rewarded. small heavy bodied bitches were awarded and slight leggy dogs.
Aug 8, 20122NicoleBouv
Was not impressed with this judge, he was grumpy and rushed us and this was my pups first show. Would not show a young dog to again.
Apr 1, 20121kathleen lazzariniGSMD
Will not show again. Was clear he did not even look at my dog. Was asking to see the bite before I had even finished stacking her. Put up a dog that did not fit the breed standard but had a well known handler on the other end of the leash!
Feb 4, 20122AnonymousWorking
Definitely on my DNS List!!! Picks handlers over dogs of much better quality. Don't waste your money!!! Too expensive to pay for shows when outcomes are like this. If I had lost to a better dog then it wouldn't have been a problem. I've definitely lost before with better dogs in the ring but this time it was just the handler that he picked.
Dec 2, 20111anonymousGreat Dane
With a lot of owner handlers in the ring he went All handlers!! On my DNS list!!
Jul 5, 20111RocklandChows
Very heavy handed with the puppies. Intimidated every entry in the ring (4 entries under 9 months & 1 barley 2yrs). Created a problem with young male standing for exam, checking his rear. No longer trusts male judges. His incorrect approch, from the side and loomed over them. Yes they should still stand for exam, but the standard states how to approch. He should review that and not be so intimidating to young puppies and get better response. Not sure if I will show to again!!!!
Jul 12, 2010AnonymousDoberman
I will NEVER return to this judge. The AKC rep was called to the ring due to his antics.
Feb 10, 20102MarleneKomondor
Mr. Ambrosio did a wonderful job with the puppies in the ring. He approached them calmly and very pleasant. Would definitely bring more pups and dogs to him.
Nov 21, 20091PRWPEMBROKES - PBGV'S
I,also, have two judges on my "DNS EVER!" list and this guy is at the top! Rude, rough with pups, and is all about his buddies in the ring.
May 21, 20091WorkingExpert!
I have been told by a professional handler that he has promised her a group placement in the future, of course this was a pretty female handler. If it looks as though he is being political, it is because he is. He is on my DNS list.
Mar 23, 2009anonWorking Breeds
Being a young attractive female handler helps. Does not judge the dogs except when there are no handlers in the ring. DNS for me.
Mar 9, 20091mtnmystsShetland Sheepdog
Not good with puppies and may have ruined mine. Very rough with him on the table and then when the pup shied away from him at the end of the down and back he bent over and grabbed him by the ruff and shook him while saying "we don't do that in MY ring." Doesn't seem to know decent movement either. Definitely on my DNS list.

Not a judge that I would show to. VERY political, likes a pretty girl (two legged! LOL!) Not concerned about the quality of the dog.
Jul 17, 20081anonymouswhippets
One of the worst judges that I have shown to. Put up and placed bad moving , loping dogs on friends, over sound, nice movers on owner handlers.
Feb 9, 20082AnonymousWorking Breed
Not pleasant with pups. Didn't have the patience with 1st time in the ring puppies. Also seemed to be in a rush.
Nov 15, 20071mike kelley
looks wrong end of the lead again in did a bad job in Ballston Spa!!! Why did I waste my money???
Oct 14, 20073jesrocany
Will put up bad topline or movement if he knows the handler.
Aug 4, 20071anonHerding
Political, puts up friends' dogs, whether they merit it, or not. Would not give this individual an entry. Claims to be a GSD aficionado, but has no clue about the standard for the breed. Found him to be quite self involved, and to the point of rudeness with many exhibitors. Permanent and resounding DNS.
Jul 21, 2007Southern Chic DalmatDalmatians
Does not care for Liver color dals. Put up dogs with bad movements, top line roachy. Also appeared not be interested in judgeing this breed.

claimed by some to be polotical, I have not found this to be true in my breed. He is VERY into sturcture/movement, doesnt care about heads or showmanship - wants them to be functionally correct. If you show him this kind of dog, you will do well.
Dec 15, 20062
Very political.
